World Poetry Slam Champion Harry Baker is celebrating all things wonderful in his critically acclaimed show Wonderful 2.0, brought to The Crescent by regular York spoken word promoter Say Owt.

Brimming with wonder and infectious energy, and blending playfulness with vulnerability and a relentless sense of hope, Harry Baker’s poetry has been shared on TED.com and captivated millions online, and he recently headlined the Poet’s Revival at the Royal Albert Hall. The poet and a maths graduate writes about important stuff like hope, dinosaurs and German falafel-spoons. His most recent collection Wonderful came out in May 2024 and was accompanied by a 40-date sellout UK and Ireland tour of the same name.

Wonderful 2.0 builds on that, celebrating everything from wellies and postcodes to funerals and fertility journeys. We’re told: “Expect a mix of fan favourites and brand-new work, all tied together with Baker’s trademark wit and warmth. Whether laughing through tears or crying with laughter, this is a show that revels in the sheer joy of being alive … Wonderful 2.0 hopes to make you cry with laughter, laugh through tears, or dream scenario: both.”

Say Owt themselves are having a summer break and will be back in October with more spoken word shenanigans. For more slam action, check out Manchester’s SLAMCHESTER.
