Picnic Cinema runs an anual series of screenings of Withnail & I at Sleddale Hall aka Crow Crag – the cottage from the cult classic film. The events are camping only (glamping is also available) owing to the remote location, but film fans can look forward to a whole evening of entertainment. There’s a meal included, followed by themed games, the screening itself, and then some eclectic 60s and 70s music inspired by the film’s soundtrack. Filmgoers can stay hydrated at the on-site bar, while an optional breakfast is available for the morning after.

Entering its ninth year in 2021, Picnic Cinema-goers are known for going all out. Taking a cue from Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann’s iconic characters, the recommended dress code is your finest tweed suits, cut by Hawke’s of Saville Row (if possible), school girl outfits, moustaches and curly wigs (or long white hats). Dates always sell out quickly, so booking early is recommended.
