Calling all Beatrix Potter fans! Grab your chance to meet Peter Rabbit and friends for a special festive tea party for all the family.

The World of Beatrix Potter museum attracts thousands of visitors each year and its engaging exhibition features all of the characters children and their grownups have grown to love.

It could be a trip down memory lane for the adults too –  you might fondly remember sitting on your grandparents’ lap while they read you one of Potter’s heart-warming stories, which is sure to make a trip with your bambinos a little bit more special!

The afternoon tea parties run throughout the year, but in December, they take place in the ‘magical wonderland’ which is clad in Christmas cheer.

Is there anything more cheering than your little one’s excitement at meeting their favourite storybook characters? We think not.

On the menu you can expect a deliciously festive cream tea – think finger sandwiches, scones with jam and clotted cream, and cakes prepared with locally sourced ingredients. Settle down for storytime with fellow Peter Rabbit fans and listen to the timeless Tale of Peter Rabbit as it is read live from the stage.

Families are also invited to get up close for a (socially distanced) photograph with the main bunny – as a keepsake from your day and your little ones won’t leave empty-handed either, receiving a themed gift, balloon, and pair of rabbit ears.

Free entry to the exhibition and gardens is included in your ticket so take the opportunity to explore the interactive installations (some of which have audio) – where you’ll see 3D displays of Jemima Puddle-Duck, Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle, the Flopsy Bunnies and, of course, Peter Rabbit himself.

Windermere’s quaint town centre is also a must see with its independent shops and cafés (just be sure to check the current coronavirus restrictions before making the extra trip).

Is there anything more cheering than your little one’s excitement at meeting their favourite storybook characters? We think not.
