Turkish director, Deniz Gamze Ergüven’s debut film examines wrongheaded traditions and abuse through the eyes of five sisters locked away by their family for innocently playing with some local boys. One of the standout films of 2016, this sensual, spirited tale manages to be both politically angry and impress with its texture and eye for the quotidian.

Small World Cinema Club have selected Mustang as their February screening at Foundation Coffee House in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. These small, intimate screenings are designed to be social, with film fans urged to stick around for drink and discussion afterwards. It’s perfectly timed for bit of those of you craving a little post-work, mid-week culture.
