This October half-term there’s loads going on in Leeds if you’re up for some Halloween-ified fun! Bring the whole family and head to Leeds Industrial Museum, which has been rather overrun… by scarecrows! Yes, those traditionally hay-stuffed field guardians have decided the museum’s galleries, nooks, and crannies make far better accommodation than a soggy Yorkshire allotment, and fair play to them, really.

Families with children of all ages are invited to come along and meet the scarecrows who have settled comfortably into their new home. Once you’ve enjoyed spotting them throughout the museum, take a stroll to the newly opened picnic grounds beside the canal, where even more scarecrow relatives are lurking.

Adding to the rustic charm this half-term, you can also try your hand at Vegetable Printing Portraits which is exactly what it sounds like: art made with veg. You may never look at a carrot the same way again. Don’t forget to explore the museum’s permanent spaces too, such as the Mini Makers Studio, a family-friendly play area with Lego, dressing up, and more—or step outside into The Colour Garden, a vibrant space filled with flowers once used to create traditional dyes.

The Scarecrow Trail is included with museum admission. Normal opening hours apply, but please note: the museum is closed on Mondays… because even scarecrows deserve a day of rest.

Looking for more autumnal, Halloween-y entertainment over half-term in Leeds? Check out other brilliant events at Temple Newsam, Abbey House Museum, Lotherton, Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds Art Gallery, Leeds City Museum, Leeds Discovery Centre, and more.
