Pauline Oliveros, who died last year at the age of 84, was a composer, accordionist and experimenter at the forefront of electronic art music. Her work and writing on music theories included the concepts of ‘Deep Listening’ and ‘sonic awareness’.

hcmf// presents this, the only UK concert of Oliveros’ 1998 elemental piece Primordial/Lift, featuring performances by International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) and Manchester ensemble Distractfold, as well as her long-time collaborators Fritz Hausers, IONE and Anne Bourne. Described as a ‘bizarre and surreal sound work’, it features swirls of cello, voice, sampler, violin, accordion and more.

The concert is preceded by a talk about Pauline Oliveros in Phipps Hall at 4pm.
