Her Productions gives Noel Coward’s classic farce – Blithe Spirit – a Northern makeover this February.

Fierce, funny and feminist, Her Productions are back with their first new show for 2025, premiering at Hope Mill Theatre before transferring to The Dukes Lancaster.

The story centres around the cantankerous writer Charles Condomine who calls on the services of a clairvoyant to gather inspiration for his next book. However, on inviting the medium to his house to conduct a séance, the scheme backfires and Condomine finds himself haunted by his eccentric late wife…much to the displeasure of his current one.

Brought to the stage by acclaimed feminist theatre makers, Her Productions, alongside some of the North’s most exciting comedic performers, you can expect pure silliness and plenty of giggles in this fresh version of one of Noel Coward’s best-loved works.

With Her Productions’ Hannah Ellis Ryan at the directorial helm, we’ve been told to expect Coward’s “traditional, fun-filled comedy” but with “extra sass”.

Of Blithe Spirit, Ryan told us, “This is the first time we’ve done Coward – but it’s been one of my favourite plays for years. I’m excited to offer audiences something I know is fun (even hilarious), while honouring the text and the medium of a classic farce. We will bring a HER flavour, which for this production will be via the vibe and rule-breaking of Bridgerton.“
