Floating Art have been hosting relaxed and accessible art workshops in Manchester for years and it’s great to see them spread their love for creativity to new cities. You can now find teacher Ula sharing her expertise in Liverpool at Duke Street MKT. In this workshop you’ll learn some fundamental drawing and watercolour techniques, including colour mixing, before diving into the colourful and eclectic world of Studio Ghibli.

Unlike other art workshops where everyone creates the same piece and there’s little room for creativity, Floating Art always encourages people to create something unique. There will be a wide selection of stills from Studio Ghibli to use as reference for painting inspiration, however, participants are welcome to bring their own reference images if they have particular ideas in mind. No matter where the inspiration comes from, you can be sure to walk away from the workshop with a Ghibli-esque piece to proudly hang in your home.

All experience levels are welcome. Ula is an incredible teacher which can be seen most keenly in the way she adjusts her advice depending on the level of skill displayed by the person she’s working with. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve got a couple of fine art degrees in the bag, this workshop is a sociable and relaxed way to enjoy painting as a group.

While you paint you can enjoy food and drink ordered from Duke Street Market but the workshop takes place in a private naturally sky lit room. You can simultaneously enjoy the creative calm of painting and the flavours of the bustling and ever popular market. Having attended Floating Art’s workshops in the past, we found their friendly and open atmosphere brilliant for helping you let loose and be creative. Whether you go with friends or as a solo mission, you’ll end up getting to know the other workshop participants as you talk and paint your way through a zen experience.

Often people come away feeling proud of their finished pieces and surprised at the quality of what they’ve created. This is totally down to the expert help and tuition in the workshops. Floating Art is run by brilliant artists who have honed their teaching skills as much as their craft, gently encouraging the very best out of their workshop attendees.
