Don’t be fooled by the folky roots and spritely tunes of Céilí dancing. This high intensity, high cardio catalyst for a good time will have you sweating, laughing and dancing your way into the night. Fuelled by the magic of live musicians and with specified dance moves that obliterate any social awkwardness around moving your body in public, Céilí’s are the underdog of a night out. It has to be said though, they are also some of the best fun to be had on two legs.

Céilí is the very definition of organised fun. However, something has to be said for the longevity of this particular breed of socialising. People have been spinning, polka-ing and stripping the willow for centuries now and often those who come to it for the first time find themselves hooked for life. Dancing is connecting and Céilí offers us the opportunity to do just that, with bells on.

Alongside the dancing, Altogether Otherwise (the Green Quarter’s haven of wholesomeness), will be putting on food and running an artfully curated bar for you to enjoy while you take a rest and watch as other people swing each other around the room.

Once you’ve entered into the colourfully decorated interior of Altogether Otherwise, we highly recommend checking out their library. Separate to the main events space, this small haven of calm is open sporadically during the week. It offers a deftly assembled collection of literature on subjects ranging from philosophy and design through to canonical fiction and classics. It’s a small piece of calm that sits in stark contrast to the surrounding area. You might also come across their stunning community garden. This space is open for gardening workshops on a weekly basis where people can learn to garden for free. Alternatively, they also run a food club, where the produce from the garden is cooked and consumed.
