In 1989, the world saw seismic events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall and Tiananmen Square as well as the birth of the internet. 404: Resistance in the Digital Age is a new installation by RAGE Collective at Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art that uses these events as an entry point to explore the changes in the last 30 years of resistance and the use of digital platforms. It explores the dynamics of online power relationships and the ways resistance movements now use the internet to counter restrictions such as hacktivist movements, revolutions organised through social media and the widespread use of memes.
