Now is not the time to make a pilgrimage to see the musical stones of Skiddaw, one of the museum’s star objects,  as this self styled  ‘Victorian Cabinet of curiosities’ is currently closed for a major redevelopment, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We will let you know when you can.
