Penny Lane has generally always been known for one thing (The Beatles if  you needed a reminder) but today the street is a pretty sight filled with some lovely independent businesses – A Slower Space is one of them.

The ‘independent lifestyles store’ was created by married couple Mike and Michelle, who both had careers in the fashion industry for 16 years prior but decided to make a change and put their expertise to good use in the form of a gorgeous shop/ café/ indoor potted plant garden.

Step inside to find all of the necessary (and desirable) items to make your house beautiful and your mind calm: candles, vases, flowers, plants and lots of them, prints, cards, jewellery and wine. It’s a great place to pick up a gift for a loved one and one for yourself too.

A Slower Space was inspired by its founders’ travels around Sri Lanka, Bali, Vietnam and Thailand, and the search for moments of genuine relaxation. The shop itself offers a slice of that: you can browse the lovely items on display while having a fresh cup of coffee or warming herbal tea. The brands in stock range from international to locally designed and made, resulting in a carefully curated selection of only the most fitting items. There’s the odd Beatles-related print but how could there not be? You’re on Penny Lane after all. Nearby you’ll find delicious sweet treats at Desserts by Dre, you can grab a pint at The Dovey, or another coffee at Bean There Coffee, just down the road.

A Slower Space is a warm and inviting spot, from the dark green and pink shop front to the plants draped over everything inside. The only risk is – you might not want to leave.
