MOZART Piano and Wind Quintet K452
STRAVINSKY Concerto in D
MOZART Piano Concerto No.12, K414
Paul Lewis piano/director

Broadcasting from Hallé St Peter’s, The Hallé will be joined by Paul Lewis, one of the country’s most distinguished artists, for a dazzling programme in which he directs from the piano. The concert opens with Mozart’s beautiful Piano and Wind Quintet K452, a remarkable work featuring the fabulous wind musicians of the Hallé. Concluding the programme, Paul Lewis directs Mozart’s early yet astonishingly mature Piano Concerto No.12. Packed with glorious melodies the piece is also notable for a wonderfully poignant Andante movement, which is thought to be written as a musical tribute for Johann Christian Bach. To contrast these masterpieces, the Hallé’s string musicians perform Stravinsky’s bright and sunny Concerto in D for string orchestra directed by Eva Thorarinsdottir.

Broadcasting from Hallé St Peter’s, the concert will be streamed on Vimeo at thehalle.vhx.tv, and it will remain available to view until the close of the season.
