Strawberry Studios Forever is a book launch, but also something much rarer: a chance to step inside the former recording rooms of Strawberry Studios, where a remarkable stretch of Manchester music history was made.

Presented by The Stockport Music Story, the event centres on the publication of Strawberry Studios Forever, written by studio founder Peter Tattersall with archivist Peter Wadsworth. Told from Tattersall’s perspective, the book traces Strawberry’s story from the inside – not as myth, but as a working studio that shaped the sound of Manchester over several decades.

On the day, Tattersall and Wadsworth will be in conversation, discussing the book and the realities of life at Strawberry, from running an independent studio to working with Manchester artists including 10cc, Joy Division, New Order, The Smiths and The Stone Roses, alongside towering figures like Paul McCartney.

There’s also the chance to listen to selected recordings in the space they were originally made, and to spend time in both the control room and live recording area – a simple but effective way of reconnecting music with place.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided, in a very northern show of hospitality. Tickets include a copy of the book and numbers are limited due to the size of the building.
