Southport Air Show makes a soaring return to Merseyside’s picturesque coastal town this September. Now in it’s 28th year, the North West’s biggest air show attracts thousands of aviation enthusiasts, all keen to glimpse their favorite aircraft.

Some of the standout planes on display this year include a debut appearance from the distinctive, arrow-shaped Saab Viggen fighter jet, the classic P-47 Thunderbolt and the famous RAF Typhoon.

There are plenty of ground-level pleasures too. The Air Show Village is a family-friendly mix of stalls, funfair attractions and there’s even a replica Spitfire for selfie-seekers. If you make your way to the beach there’s more to discover from paintballing to zorbing and – of course – bumper cars!

Chocks away for the perfect family weekend!

However, the real star of the Southport Air Show is the stunning line-up of spectacular areal displays. After the RAF Typhoon and Battle of Britain Memorial Flight on the Friday evening, expect to be blown away by the likes of AF Tucano, Royal Navy Black Cats, Fireflies Display Team and the Tigers Free Fall Team.  It’s not all wings, OTTO The Helicopter brings both daytime displays as well as spectacular evening pyrotechnic performances.

We love Southport. If you are making a special trip to the coast for the Southport Air Show, be sure take check out the beautiful Victorian shopping arcades, the Southport Model Railway Village and The Atkinson – Southport’s must-see multi-arts institution which dates back to 1878.

Chocks away for the perfect family weekend!
