What could be nicer than a family day out tumbling and picnicking away?

Dunham Massey have joined forces with outdoor family arts producers Wild Rumpus to  mark the incredible story of Dunham’s Lost Years – the scandalous Victorian marriage of the super eligible George Harry, 7th Earl of Stamford & Warrington to daring bareback horse rider and circus performer Catharine Cox.

The gorgeous gardens at Dunham will be transformed with a packed schedule of circus shenanigans for all ages. Until 10 August there is an impressive series of intriguing installations for hilarious photo opportunities including being shot from a rocket, tighropewalking across the sky and being the centre of a knife throwing show. Circus House will be performing amazing feats and running workshops and the impressive programme of creative adventures also includes circus writing and illustration, and an impressive line-up of storytellers.

The second half of the month (11 August – 3 September) sees a “Run Away With The Circus Trail” for more juggling, stiltwalking, hula hooping, feather balancing and another wacky installation – a chance to stand bareback (as homage to Catharine Cox) on a carnival horse for the grand finale.
