Newton Street bar and restaurants gets in on the Record Store Day act in 2018, hosting record labels Athens Of The North and Mr Bongo Records.

Edinburgh-based Athens Of The North highlights long-lost tracks and classics from different musical genres, while Mr Bongo Records started out as a basement record shop in London in 1989. Now Brighton-based, its roster features Brazilian, Latin, reggae, African and jazz music artists.

This special 12-hour event sees the two labels face off – with Mikey Donn, Out of Quiet, Dave Ruf and Paul Thornton among those who will feature on the decks from 3pm until close.

There will also be exclusive records from Athens Of The North, plus Dig Deep Records and Planet Rock on sale between between 2pm and 5pm.
