HOAX Our Right to Hope at The Lowry
Andrew AndersonRob was a young poet from Manchester who suffered from schizophrenia. Sadly, in 2008 he took his own life. This traumatic event inspired his sister to create HOAX, a series of works that explore Rob’s life through his words. Now the various strands of her project are coming together in HOAX Our Right to Hope at The Lowry.
The project takes in a stage musical HOAX My Lonely Heart and a graphic novel HOAX Psychosis Blues, which will be combined for a unique immersive experience via a a brand-new app. Participants begin with the heart-wrenching musical, before the app transitions them into a reading of the hope-inspiring novel. Then, after the performance is done, you can continue to interact with the story at home.
Not only is this a great piece of art, which honours Rob’s memory, but it also helps to demystify mental health issues by taking you fully into another person’s worldview.
