Dog Life Drawing Class
Carmel Smickersgill, Tours & Activities EditorOn 20 May, Dog Life Drawing will be bringing their canine models to Yorkshire for a day of drawing, dog appreciation and relaxation. Over the course of a late morning into the afternoon you’ll hone your drawing skills as different furry friends display their best poses and their incredible ability to stay still.
All levels of skill and experience are welcome. Whether you’re a keen amateur or an exhibiting artist, the workshop is a chance to use some very cute if unconventional case studies to work on your form, style and technique. Artist Liah Edwardes will be on hand to offer guidance, advice and tips for capturing the mutt models on paper.
Encouraging people to see life drawing as a way into relaxation and mindfulness
Liah is a Sheffield based artist with a practice rooted in life drawing and abstract representation of the human form. She often uses continuous line drawing in her work capturing patterns, forms and repeating motifs. She’s been helping others find their own way through life drawing of both humans and dogs, encouraging people to see it as a way into relaxation and mindfulness as well as an artistic practise.
Basic materials will be provided such as paper, pencils and charcoals but for those with their own equipment and preference of a particular media, bringing your own materials is encouraged.
It is worth noting only the dogs there as models will be allowed into the dog life drawing class, so leaving your own fluffy companions at home is recommended. Maybe some of the skills you pick up in the class, however, will encourage you to capture your own pets in 2D form.
