Trunk, Tail, Ears or Wings? Carnival creates itself from all sorts of things. On Saturday 11 February, head to the charming and funny Cardboard Carnival at The Edge and experience forty-five brilliant minutes of playful puppetry and creative joy with none other than plain, simple, cardy – well – cardboard, set to the delicious backdrop of stunning musical melodies.

Inspired by Camille Saint-Saëns’ music, this crazy cardboard show full of puppets and possibility invites anyone aged 4-104 to share in its delight. This inspirational and arty show is the “Carnival of the Animals” like we’ve never seen before.

Presented by Lempen Puppet Theatre Company who continue to delight and amaze with their unique style and talent, the Cardboard Carnival combines music by Camille Saint-Saëns with an exploration of the simple, yet versatile material of cardboard. This in turn creates a refreshing, visual production, featuring no words or speaking, and purely focused on the magic of puppetry.

Audiences can expect to be inspired by the music’s animal theatricality and the sheer wonder of a simple cardboard box, which they will use to create the ULTIMATE animal.

So, for a different kind of creative family experience, visit the Cardboard Carnival at The Edge in 2023 for a whole load of puppetry, cardboard and musical delight, creating a visual, atmospheric treat like no other.
