Back by popular demand, Burlesque The Musical returns to Manchester this autumn. Glamorous and gritty, the spectacular new musical earned dazzling reviews when it received its world premiere earlier this year – now, the sizzling show returns for a month-long run to set the Opera House stage alight once more.

The popular new musical takes the action of Steven Antin’s 2010 musical film, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera, and transfers it to stage. A scintillating journey of self-discovery, audiences can expect an all-singing all-dancing theatrical experience, with new songs by Jess Folley and Todrick Hall, alongside hits by Christina Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren featured in the original film.

Shimmering with seduction and more than a few sequins, audiences are introduced to a club like no other – where the flick of a feather boa can change a life trajectory forever.

Burlesque The Musical tells the story of Ali, an aspiring small-town singer who heads to the bright lights of New York in search of her mother. Drawn into the dazzling underground world of music and dance, with her new-found family of misfits, dreamers and schemers, Ali discovers where she truly belongs.

Of the show, Christina Aguilera, Executive Producer of Burlesque the Musical, told us, “Burlesque was my first feature film — and creating the role of Ali along with co-writing the music was a part of my career that I will always cherish. I am so happy to be reunited with Steven, this time behind-the-scenes as an Executive Producer and contributing songwriter for our new stage version. Recreating Burlesque as a live theatre experience is something I always hoped would happen, and here we are.”
