Bicep return to The Warehouse Project this December with their Chroma AV DJ Set and a brilliantly curated line-up of cutting-edge electronic artists who reflect the duo’s own eclectic influences.

Over the past decade, Matt McBriar and Andy Fergusun AKA Bicep have become two of the most trusted names in electronic music. Their eponymous 2017 album spanned many genres, scenes and eras, from house to disco to jungle, and yet it channelled those influences with total focus, building a musical world that was their own. Simple, heady melodies and journeying structures knit the patchwork styles together, always with a masterful hand on listeners’ emotions.

This debut, with its lead singles ‘Glue’ and ‘Aura’, won the Belfast duo massive acclaim, and sell-out shows around the world – including Manchester’s Warehouse Project. In 2021, the duo’s second album Isles brought something more introverted and immersive, casting a net around the world for samples, from Malawian polyrhythms to Bulgarian choirs, all drenched in cavernous reverb. It was a good year to be a Bicep fan; lead singles ‘Apricots’ and ‘Atlas’ seemed to be playing everywhere you went.

More recently, the duo have been working on an ongoing CHROMA project, which spans a record label, specially curated parties, and a fully-overhauled Bicep AV/DJ show with a new visual identity created in collaboration with David Rudnick and his Terrain studio. A string of club-centric singles have been released as part of the project, whose darker, more techno-leaning sound is a refreshing evolution. “We want to use CHROMA to push our sounds and challenge people more than we probably have in the past”, say the duo.

These hard hitting singles are a good representation of what you’ll hear at their Depot Mayfield set, which will span their own music as well as that of their favourite artists. And more of their favourite artists will be joining in person, with a handpicked line-up featuring Mall Grab, Daphni, Helena Hauff, Bubble Love (Ross From Friends), Sherelle, and many more.
