A Taste of Honey at The Lowry, Salford 13 — 21 September 2019 Tickets from £12.50 — Book now

A Taste of Honey, Shelagh Delaney’s career-defining play, is coming to The Lowry, Salford this autumn.

Written by Shelagh Delaney when she was just nineteen, A Taste of Honey is one of the great taboo-breaking plays of the 1950s. An exhilarating presentation of working life in post-war Salford, the play offers an explosive commentary on the vulnerabilities and strengths of the female spirit in a deprived and restless world.

In this National Theatre production, Bijan Sheibani (Barber Shop Chronicles) will direct Jodie Prenger (Oliver!, One Man, Two Guvnors, Abigail’s Party) as Helen.

A white woman with long brown hair sits naked on a table with her legs open. A silhouette of somebody’s head is blocking her breasts, stomach & vulva. She is looking down. Beef steaks that look like labia hang on either side of her.
