A Taste of Honey at The Lowry
Kristy Stott, Theatre EditorA Taste of Honey, Shelagh Delaney’s career-defining play, is coming to The Lowry, Salford this autumn.
Written by Shelagh Delaney when she was just nineteen, A Taste of Honey is one of the great taboo-breaking plays of the 1950s. An exhilarating presentation of working life in post-war Salford, the play offers an explosive commentary on the vulnerabilities and strengths of the female spirit in a deprived and restless world.
In this National Theatre production, Bijan Sheibani (Barber Shop Chronicles) will direct Jodie Prenger (Oliver!, One Man, Two Guvnors, Abigail’s Party) as Helen.
