Starting back in 2009, Sofar Sounds has snowballed into hotly anticipated, one-of-a-kind concerts in increasingly unique spaces. In October, Gail’s bakery on South King Street played gracious host, turning pastry fans into rapt gig-goers.

The concert area is tucked away on the lower floor of Gail’s, where there’s a cornucopia of bakes awaiting. Within ten minutes, the pastrami and mustard mayo rolls have been destroyed, along with the addictive ham and Swiss cheese ciabatta and harissa and tuna slices.

There are tons of sweet treats too. Gail’s signature cinnamon buns are an ever-popular choice, as are the French madeleines, the delicate apple cake and blueberry muffins. Oh, and there are a few Halloween biscuits thrown in for good measure.

Gail’s is certainly an unconventional venue for a concert, but it works. The intimate atmosphere, the super-smiley Gail’s team and the 10/10 artists come together seamlessly. And with pastries galore, you really can’t have a better evening.
