“I remember that winter because it had brought the heaviest snow I had ever seen. Snow had fallen steadily all night long and in the morning I woke in a room filled with light and silence, the whole world seemed to be held in a dream-like stillness. It was a magical day… and it was on that day I made The Snowman.”
Would it even be Christmas without The Snowman? Based on the much-loved children’s picture book by Raymond Briggs, this magical film adaptation is a festive staple. Join the Hallé at the Bridgewater Hall this December to experience it anew. Performing Howard Blake’s wonderful score, the Hallé will provide a live accompaniment for a screening of the animated classic, including the enchanting ‘Walking in the Air’.
“Shake, shake, shudder, near the sludgy old swamp. The dinosaurs are coming. Get ready to romp.”
Alongside The Snowman, the Hallé presents Steve Pickett’s Dinosaurumpus. A romp for audience and orchestra, Dinosaurumpus is based on the popular children’s book of the same name by Tony Mitton. Having received a stomping reception in its premier in 2015, it’s sure to please any Jurassic fans in the family!
What a great way to get kids excited about orchestral music!
