Cross Lane Projects welcomes Rebecca Scott and her solo exhibition Small Boats & Family Matters.

Scott is a co-founder of Cross Lane Projects and a painter, whose work is in international private and public collections, having exhibited work all over Europe. The show is inspired by The Raft of the Medusa (1819) by French Romantic artist Théodore Géricault – a famously dramatic work, depicting the survivors of a shipwreck. This, coupled with a constant stream of online imagery of present day migration has been the trigger for the body of work that viewers will find on display at Small Boats & Family Matters.

A collection of works titled Migrant Paintings capture scenes reworked from found photographs, with the addition of emojis. Family Portraits focus on the individuals behind the experience of migration, with a focus on their specific circumstances and stories.
