Rambert: Draw From Within with The Lowry at The Lowry, Salford 24 — 26 September 2020 Tickets from £10.00 — Book now

This September Rambert’s full company of dancers are set to perform their first real-time, live stream work, Draw From Within from their state-of-the-art studios on London’s Southbank.

Created with leading Belgian choreographer and film-maker, Wim Vandekeybus, the piece has been specifically developed to be viewed digitally. Draw From Within will use all of the company’s studio space – including corridors, loading bays, and even the roof – to allow audiences a unique and fascinating perspective. With cameras positioned in and around the dancers’ performance space, the aim is to capture a virtual reality-style viewpoint.

Turbo-charged, vivid and exhilarating, Draw From Within is a dance production for our time. Building on Vandekeybus’ extensive experience as a storyteller and cinematographer, the work aims to bring the studios back to life following the period of lockdown. Moving to an intoxicating and eclectic soundtrack, Rambert’s awe-inspiring dancers look set to deliver a digital feast for the senses.

Of the production, Vandekeybus says: “Draw From Within is surreal, unrealistic, nightmarish but there’s light in the darkness. It’s about threat but also about liberation, about death but also about birth. There’s an elemental, primal vitality to my work. I like to return to the ritualistic aspects of life, the ritualistic aspects of dance as a form of expression. I like to go under the skin and draw upon our innate human qualities: the human heartbeat that unites us, the arc of a human life, the blood which courses through our veins.”

Draw From Within is available for three performances only and tickets are available through The Lowry.
