Fancy doing something a bit quirky with the kids this summer? Look no further than Leeds Kirkgate Market, where there’s a whole circus-training event taking place from 29-31 July. Get ready for juggling, plate spinning, and even stilt walking (don’t worry, we’re starting small – literally, with mini stilts).

If you’re worried your little one may prefer more straightforward colouring to balancing acts, fear not. Alongside circus antics, there’s crafting tables, Lego and DUPLO building zones, and a steady supply of colouring pens.

The entire cavalcade of entertainment unfolds in the Market Kitchen – aka, the place where you can sip a coffee, eye up your lunch options, and pretend you’re having a peaceful day out while your kids learn to spin five plates more effectively than you can manage your group WhatsApp.

Circus School at Leeds Market is not only fun AND free, it’s super accessible too – the event has been awarded a Scope Inclusive Activity Award, meaning  sessions are welcoming and accessible for families with children with additional needs. If you’re hoping to avoid the peak-time excitement (read: chaos), we recommend heading over between 11 and 12 noon, when things tend to be quieter. Or seek refuge at Row J, where picnic tables and a calmer vibe await.

No booking required, no hidden costs, just a day of free, family fun served with a side of snacks and shade.
