For those who are into high concept, cryptically minded thrill-seeking, Breakout Manchester have a room for you. As one of the first escape rooms to open in the city, they now have a total of 15 rooms. Their rooms are tastefully designed, placing you in a different world with an air of authenticity. They have particularly strong horror-themed rooms, inspired by your favourite scary films and the impending zombie apocalypse. There are also themes for those who aren’t as keen on shock and gore- become a group of cowboy bandits escaping a saloon, detectives solving murders and undercover agents preventing a missile strike, just to name a few.

Each game lasts 60 minutes and can be played with 2-5 players, however, larger teams are recommended as it’s more fun with more brains involved in the puzzle solving. Throughout the game there will be someone watching your progress giving helpful hints and tips via a computer screen. So that you can have the satisfaction of solving the puzzles for yourself, the hints will always remain fairly cryptic. Your escape is accompanied by a playlist of themed music which really helps to ramp up the tension towards the end of the game and adds to the immersive nature of the experience. There are some exciting developments in the pipeline, join them in May to celebrate their fifth birthday.

Breakout’s rooms are a great way to challenge yourself and get lost in a different world for the sake of entertainment, but will you manage to do it before the time runs out?
