Ziferblat is a pay as you stay café in the northern quarter, where everything is free – except the time you spend.
The word ‘ziferblat’ means clockface in Russian – which makes sense for a pay as you stay café started by a group of Russian poets. Manchester’s version is on Edge Street in the northern quarter, a large, living room-style space where everything is free (including tea, coffee, cakes, fruit, cereal and high-speed wifi), except the time you spend. Ziferblat is a welcoming, relaxed space with board games, a well-stocked open access kitchen and an eclectic mix of chairs. Not bad for 5p per minute.
