Pyramid Art Studio is opening its doors for an exclusive and intimate look into the artists, programmes and artworks that make this accessible art studio unique. You can join them for a day of free open studio tours, where you’ll meet artists, see the spaces in which they work and hear first hand about their methods and inspirations.

The tours are open to everyone, but of particular interest to those wanting to learn more about inclusive arts and making art accessible. You’ll learn a lot about the open studio days, how they run, who uses the space and time and how it contributes to wider educational structures for people with Autism, Learning disabilities or both. Finding the Flex is delivered in collaboration with University of Leeds School of Fine Art.

Pyramid is an organisation that seeks to invest in people with learning disabilities, by providing them with the space, skills and resources to grow as artists. Through their open studio, keen artists can discover their own creative voice, develop their style and technique and ultimately disrupt the wider ideas that society might put on disabled people as well as dismantling the stereotypes of who can be a fine artist. Pyramid recognises the social and institutional barriers that people with learning disabilities might face and offers alternative ways for artists to evolve. They facilitate collaborative art groups, as well as one-on-one creative support and professional development opportunities.

The open studio tours will run for around an hour with one starting at 11am and the second at 1pm, access information can be found via the book now link. Alongside the open studio tour will be a pop up library and the chance to explore the studios archive of past projects. Whether you’re curious about the art being made here or invested in accessible arts space, there will be plenty of passionate individuals who firmly believe in the importance of making art genuinely accessible to chat to.
