Chatsworth & The Peak District Tour
Rabbie's Tour
Book now

From Manchester to Mr Darcy’s drawing room. Swap the city for sweeping landscapes, world class art and the gold-leaf grandeur of Chatsworth House.

This small-group day tour is led by one of Rabbie’s expert guides – part driver, part storyteller – who’ll take you from spa towns to stately homes with insight, humour and plenty of local lore. Think less scripted lecture, more immersive storytelling – tailored to the landscape unfolding around you. And aboard a top-of-the-range 16-seat mini-coach, you’ll soak up their knowledge between stops, before heading off to explore each destination your own way.

As you head into the Peak District – England’s first national park – you’ll pass through a geological wonderland of moorland plateaus, limestone ridges and handsome old villages. You might pause at a scenic lookout, or find yourself following a local legend down a winding lane – one of the joys of small tours like this is that your guide can personalise things to the group’s taste. In this landscape you’ll find a fitting prelude to the grand finale: a visit to the real-life stand-in for Pemberley, as seen in Pride and Prejudice.

But first, a genteel spa town with healing waters, ornamental gardens and world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture. If you’ve ever downed a bottle of Buxton at a motorway services – congratulations. You’ve tasted water that’s spent 5000 years filtering through Peak District rock before emerging in Britain’s highest market town. Stroll the crescent, soak up the history and fill your bottle from St Ann’s Well – good enough for the Romans. Good enough for you.

Rabbie’s Tours

In the early afternoon you’ll roll up to Mr Darcy’s place, where you’ll have several hours to explore. What you do and see is up to you. Art lovers can get lost among treasures spanning 4000 years, from Roman and Egyptian sculpture to masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese. Or maybe you’ll roam the gardens, with their fountains, formal hedges and famous maze. Got kids in tow? There’s a farmyard and playground with a zipline calling their name. Either way, you’ll need to refuel – and the estate’s cafés and restaurants have you covered, whether it’s tea and cake or a full-on meal.

And then it’s home to Manchester – but not without a few more stops along the way. Your guide will shape the return leg to the weather, the mood, and the group’s curiosity. That’s what makes a Rabbie’s tour feel less like a schedule – and more like a story.
