Killing Escobar at HOME Manchester, Manchester 12 March — 12 April 2021 Tickets from £7.99 — Book now

From the producers of McQueen and Churchill, a brand new film sheds light on the incredible true story of Scottish mercenary and ex-SAS operative, Peter McAleese’s 1989 mission to assassinate famed drug kingpin Pablo Escobar. Charting a path from a violent upbringing in Glasgow, to the jungles of Colombia, Killing Escobar is a documentary thriller and a reflection on the unlikeliest of lives.

Directed by David Whitney, the film uses dramatic reconstruction, never before seen footage of the mission and first person accounts from both mercenaries and the cartel, to look at how a small team of ex-special forces commandos tried to kill the world’s biggest drug baron. McAleese, now 78 years old and returning to his Catholic faith, meditates on his life — his family, his SAS training and his experiences as a mercenary in Africa — and the deadly mission itself.
