This Pride Weekend, join underground party starters FLUFF for a night of queer electronica and a DJ afterparty featuring Meme Gold, Husk, Zolatec and thisvibrantbody.

The Guardian-certified night FLUFF is the meeting of minds of art-pop artist Norrisette and electronic music project Industries, by Markus Hethieier. Together, they’ve platformed over 50 new artists and LGBTQ+ music innovators from Manchester’s electronic and DIY scene. Playing an incredibly important role for emerging artists in particular, FLUFF has given many new artists their first gig, after which a number have gone onto national acclaim, performing at major UK festivals.

Now rightly getting more recognition itself, FLUFF is supported by Factory Sounds and Pride Superbia, which means they’re able to step their regular night up a notch in time for Pride. Performing live will be FLUFF co-founder Norrisette, whose work encompasses composition, classical piano, music production, DJing, performance and visual design. Joining her will be Knowing the Oak Tree, a genre-blending project that reimagines Irish-Celtic folklore from a feminist and queer perspective, celebrating empowerment, nature, and the harmonious coexistence of paganism and technology.

Steel drummer and producer ZOLATEC is also well worth checking out. Inspired by music ranging from metal to dub, she uses software to fuse these influences into her own dark and melodic compositions, creating a unique live set performed differently each time. Finally, infectious leftfield bangers meet ’80s disco and traditional Irish music courtesy of trans masc and non-binary artist HUSK.

As for the DJs, FLUFF co-founder Industries’ music explores and subverts musical structures ranging from field recordings and distorted sounds to harmonic melodies and pummelling beats. He’ll be joined by Meme Gold, thisvibrantbody and osk.png for a genre-spanning afterparty that gives you a taste of just how exciting Manchester’s underground music scene is right now. Expect everything from witch house to electrofolk, RnB to hyperpop.

The live acts will play from 8pm, with DJs from midnight.
