This December Le Gateau Chocolat will bring family-friendly cabaret and a good dose of glitz to HOME Manchester. Suitable for ages three and up, Duckie is a beautiful and brilliant retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Ugly Duckling.

With a tale that delivers a message of respect and self-acceptance, identity and belonging, this is Le Gateau Chocolat’s first work for a younger audience. Set in an animal circus, Le Gateau Chocolat takes on the role of Duckie, a duck who struggles to fit in. In this sparkling and sincere show, the audience join him on his journey of self-discovery, a search to find his tribe and be accepted.

Duckie encourages young audiences to celebrate difference and carve out their own identity.

This reworked version of the beloved children’s tale is told through music, narration and dress-up, and is, of course, topped off with Le Gateau Chocolat’s signature baritone vocals. Zipping around the stage and performing an assortment of larger-than-life characters, Le Gateau Chocolat is adept at engaging and interacting with audience members of all ages.

Le Gateau Chocolat is adept at engaging and interacting with audience members of all ages.

With a running time of 40 minutes, Duckie is perfect for younger audiences. Uplifting and hugely entertaining, for children and their grown-ups, the show has an important message at its core too. Duckie encourages young audiences to celebrate difference and carve out their own identity, a theme which will resonate with adults too.
