Carol Morley Short Films at HOME Manchester, Manchester, 13 March 2019, from £5.50 - Book now

HOME revisit a number of earlier works by Carol Morley that touch upon the director’s abiding themes.

Films screening in this selection are:

The Madness of Dance: A musical journey through mass hysteria. Inspired by real historical events, our host is played by Maxine Peake.

Everyday Something: Based on the filmmaker’s collection of British newspaper cuttings, Everyday Something features interlocking private moments that give glimpses into everyday life.

The Alcohol Years: Carol Morley returns to Manchester, where in the early 1980s, five years of her life were lost in an alcoholic blur. The Alcohol Years is a poetic retrieval of that time, in which rediscovered friends and acquaintances recount tales of her drunken and promiscuous behaviour. In Morley’s search for her lost self, conflicting memories and viewpoints weave in and out, revealing a portrait of the city, its pop culture, and the people who lived it.
