The last event in HOME’s Tim Burton mini-season sees the Manchester arts centre present the filmmaker’s 1992 comic book flick, Batman Returns on Monday 18th December. Long before the recent barrage of big-budget, connected-universe superhero product, the director found a not at all surprising kinship with Gotham’s dark knight. This Christmastime sequel to Burton’s 1989 Batman, sees him reteam with Michael Keaton, and introduces a memorable fish-chomping Danny DeVito as villain Penguin and Michelle Pfieffer as the captivating Catwoman in a film that would surely be deemed too peculiar for Hollywood today.
