There’s nothing quite like the fresh relief of a cold winter evening’s unpolluted air in your lungs. As we head into the colder months it’s easy to be tempted by the urge to hibernate under a blanket and stay cosy inside. However, there is so much to be gained from venturing out into these crisp and bracing evenings. Join the Yorkshire Sculpture Park for a twilight walk where you’ll be able to appreciate the park’s breathtaking natural scenery and its embedded artwork in a starker winter state.

Winter Pleasure Grounds is a guided walk and in depth talk about the historic lakes and woodland in YSP. As you make your way through the park’s numerous artworks and head towards its more natural features, you’ll discover that the follies and waterways are just as intriguing in their form and history as any of the sculptures are.

some of the most beautiful conditions to see the park in

Starting at 3 pm the sun will retreat as you venture further into the park, leaving you to discover its history by candlelight as another wintery evening sets in. Those sparing moments of twilight are some of the most beautiful conditions to see the park in. Whether it’s catching the last glimpses of light as it leaves the valley or watching the sculptures come alive in a golden sunset, it’s a particularly special time of year to visit.

sensible footwear and suitable outdoor clothing is advised

Over the walk you may have to travel over some slightly rugged terrain, so sensible footwear and suitable outdoor clothing is advised. Don’t worry if you do get cold though, at the end of the twilight walk they’ll be a warming wintery beverage waiting for you at the visitor centre, the price of which is included with your ticket.
