Northern Noir Film Screenings: Saturday Night Fever (1977) at Waterside, Manchester 6 April 2017 Tickets from £8.00 — Book now

Who said disco sucks? Far better than you might remember, Saturday Night Fever is a street-level, kinetic dance film is that is both gritty and legitimately thoughtful in its examination of working class malaise. John Travolta, in the role that would launch his career, plays Tony Manero: a paint store clerk by day and king of the dance floor by night. A terrific look at the importance and ritual of performance, escapism and the magic of Saturday Night, this vibrant film from director John Badham is well worth revisiting.
