Metal Machine Music at Bates Mill Blending Shed

Metal Machine Music at Bates Mill Blending Shed, 17 November 2017 Tickets from £17 (£14 concession/online) — Book now

Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival sets the tone for this year’s outing with an interpretation of Lou Reed’s 1975 avant-garde album Metal Machine Music. The recital pairs France’s Ensemble 2e2m with German modern composition supergroup zeitkratzer – two ensembles with radically distinct musical approaches – as strings, horns and percussion tackle this notoriously difficult record, which features feedback and drone noise predominantly.

The concert also includes a new work by Kasper T. Toeplitz, the French composer and musician of Polish origin who cites Iannis Xenakis among his influences.
