Celebrating 10 years at the top, the UK’s No.1 showgirls return to Halifax with House of Burlesque, an evening of provocative and stunning performances. Bringing sass, glamour and girl power, the show will be performed in the Spiegeltent which returns to The Piece Hall for a second season.

A Spiegeltent sometimes referred to as ‘mirror tent’, is a large travelling dance-hall which is lavishly decorated with mirrors, stained glass, brocade and velvet, and perfect for Christmas celebrations. The beautiful performance space will take centre-stage at The Piece Hall over the festive season and will also provide an intimate setting for a varied programme of storytelling, family shows, live music and performance. The Spiegeltent will provide the dream setting for House of Burlesque’s provocatively stunning performance.

Led by the expert hostess Queen Diva Tempest Rose, the burlesque performers will bring their trademark twist on the traditional burlesque style. Recommended for audiences 18+, House of Burlesque is a perfect homage to the great burlesque of the past and a flirtation to all it can achieve with a modern audience.

In addition to the critically acclaimed performance, and for those who would like to get more involved and learn the art of Burlesque, there will be two very special workshops. Tempest Rose will lead a fun workshop, ‘An Introduction to Burlesque’, which will get you moving like a real showgirl. Learn some of the tricks of the trade, give yourself an instant confidence boost and learn a little bit about the history and origins of the art of Burlesque. The second workshop, ‘Burlesque Bump and Grind’ will give participants the opportunity to learn some of the oldest and raunchiest signature styles and techniques of Burlesque. Grab a pair of heels and some clothes you can move in and you’ll strut out with a routine of your very own.

House of Burlesque will be a striking performance of seductive glamour and spectacle – the perfect night out this Christmas.

Theatre across the North West splits between festive escape and sharp, urgent work exploring politics, power and resistance.

This season, exhibitions across the North West feel attuned to the world beneath the world – the forces and stories shaping how we see, feel and imagine.
