This is a rare chance to hear from American short story writer George Saunders – author of a number of collections, including the critically acclaimed Pastorali and award-winning Tenth of December – as he launches his first, and much anticipated novel, Lincoln in the Bardo.

An original and imaginative work of fiction, already described by Zadie Smith in the New York Times as ‘a masterpiece’, Lincoln in the Bardo is one of the most anticipated novels of 2017 by the award-winning author of the short story collection Tenth of December, which nabbed the 2014 Folio Prize.

The University of Manchester’s Centre for New Writing decamps to Waterstones Deansgate for the evening, when George will be in conversation with Dr Kaye Mitchell, Co-Director and Senior Lecturer in Contemporary Literature at the CfNW. The event is open to everyone, and will include a reading, a question and answer session and a book signing. Early booking is advised for this event.
