As with most of Yorkshire’s cities, Bradford is excellently located to provide people with easy access to naturally picturesque countryside. However, even in the more industrialised areas, it offers deep rooted history drawing from multiple diasporas, cultures and heritages. Bradford and its surrounding areas have streets, paths and ginnels molded by people. As part of City Of Culture 2025, a collection of 25 walking routes have been devised, giving visitors and locals guidance and inspiration to explore the area. By discovering the city through walking, you can gift yourself the time to appreciate this fascinating place at your own pace. Bradford On Foot is the best way to experience a city from the perspective of its people.

Each walk has been selected by local hiking groups, historians, schoolchildren, artists and the people of the Bradford District. Some are wild romps, some are civically based historical wanders, and some are the well-loved, well-trodden favourite neighbourhood ambles of local people.

Bradford on Foot can be accessed either via the downloadable PDF on the Bradford 2025 website or through paper copies available to pick up in selected venues. All of the activity is completely free and can also be accessed on your phone.

One of the many great things about Bradford on Foot is that you can explore the walks in your own time and at your own pace. However, if you’re looking for a more sociable, personal and informative time on your ventures, there is nothing better than joining one of the specialist guided walks, led by experts in history, environment and culture. Keep an eye out for more tours and walks on the Bradford 2025 website as they will be happening throughout the year.

And do check out the full programme for Bradford 2025 in this special year for arts in the region.
