Joan As Police Woman at RNCM at Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), Manchester 11 July 2019 Tickets from £22.50 — Book now

Promoting her first career retrospective Anthology, Joan As Police Woman returns to Manchester with an intimate, stripped-down performance at Royal Northern College of Music this July.

Joan Wasser, as she was born, is a Brooklyn-based singer and multi-instrumentalist who has performed with the likes of Elton John, Lou Reed, Scissor Sisters, Rufus Wainwright and Antony and The Johnsons – contributing to the latter’s Mercury Prize-winning album I Am A Bird Now – before going solo in the early 2000s. She described her early solo material as ‘like old Al Green records’ – with her sound incorporating elements of soul and jazz, as well as rock and pop music.

Since 2005, she has released seven albums – including Anthology which highlights the first fifteen years of Joan’s career, revealing her dedication to experimentation and eclectic love of music.

For her 2019 tour expect a sound boiled down to its true essence, performing her songbook solo with piano and guitar. Joan will perform many of the key songs from Anthology alongside tracks from her upcoming album of covers.

This is a concert format her fans have craved since her much loved solo shows in support of the 2006 début, Real Life. Not one to miss out on.
