Farfield Mill

Farfield Mill in Sedbergh might be remote here on the very edge of both the Cumbrian and Yorkshire border, but it is home to the leading venue for textile arts in the North West. This old woollen mill is a series of working artist studios and  a vibrant gallery.  Regularly changing exhibitions feature high profile artists and makers, many of them local, but always at the cutting edge of contemporary practice.

The mill itself was working up until the early 1990s, and during its 156 active years had imported looms and cloth all over the world. Today there is a resident Master Weaver who you can watch producing limited edition handmade travel rugs on the Victorian Dobcross Looms.
