Lark Lane, Liverpool

Creative Tourist

A little way out of Liverpool City Centre, and a short and leafy walk from St Michael’s train station, is the low-key enclave of Lark Lane. Rather beautifully named, this long, straight street gives off a warm and proud sense of community: when we dropped into creative co-op and gift shop Arts Hub the man at the till cheerfully described the area as “our answer to Chorlton”.

With restaurants, antique and gift shops, a Polish salon and an impressive deli all huddled in together, it’s an area well worth exploring.

Pippin’s Corner

Pippin’s Corner, 64 Lark Lane, Liverpool, Merseyside, L17 8UU - Visit now

Pippin’s Corner is a family-friendly café on Liverpool’s famous Lark Lane, in the leafy suburb of Aigburth. If you want to escape the city for a few hours then this is the place to go. Pippin’s Corner is an ideal base for exploring Lark Lane’s independent shops, grabbing an all-day brekkie and then walking it off in the magnificent 200-acre Sefton Park

Sefton Park

Sefton Park, Mossley Hill Drive, Liverpool, L17 1AJ - Visit now

Liverpudlians take great pride in the green spaces of their city, and Sefton Park is always bustling with groups of friends enjoying the sun, children playing tennis, or families taking a Sunday stroll. Of all the parks in Liverpool, Sefton is arguably the best known and most loved of them all.

Hafla Hafla

Hafla Hafla, 73 Lark Lane, Liverpool, L17 8UP - Visit now

Once a stall in the Baltic Market (where their salt & pepper halloumi fries became insanely popular) in October 2018, Hafla Hafla spread their wings and instead of setting up camp on Bold Street – the independent’s favoured locale – they headed for Lark Lane. “Small plates with a Middle Eastern influence” is hardly a new concept but it’s presented so well, with such care, that they’ve created something fresh and thoughtful out of a well-trodden path.

Freida Mo’s

Freida Mo’s, 33 Lark Lane, Liverpool, L17 8UW - Visit now

It doesn’t get more charming than Freida Mo’s, the colourful and lovably ramshackle café on Liverpool’s Lark Lane Named after owner Sally Ayres’ grandmothers, Freida and Maureen, it’s an intimate space with outdoor seating and a couple of tables inside, plus a small but perfectly-stocked vintage clothing section towards the back.

The Lodge

The Lodge, 33 Lark Lane, Liverpool, L17 8UW - Visit now

The Lodge is a favourite fixture on Liverpool’s Lark Lane, serving up great drinks and excellent pub grub. The sister pub to the Dovedale Towers on Penny Lane, this place is just as popular with the South Liverpool glitterati. There’s a dog-friendly beer garden complete with heaters, so you can stop off for breakfast, lunch or dinner, whatever the weather.
