Moonlight Flicks at Chester Cathedral, Chester 14 July — 2 September 2023 Tickets from £13.50 — Book now

Outdoor pop-up cinemas are an increasingly familiar addition to our summer film listings, and Moonlight Flicks are one of our most established, and beloved local organisers. Setting up camp in the picturesque surrounds of Chester Cathedral from late July until early September, this is an endlessly Instagrammable way to enjoy some movies.

Boasting wood-fired pizza, jugs of sangria and all manner of cocktails to accompany, Moonlight Flicks have scheduled new and old favourites, cult classics and some proper blockbusters. With some twenty plus movies showing, from Jurassic Park to Mamma Mia to last year’s hit Everything Everywhere All At Once – there’s something for most punters (and well behaved dogs) to enjoy.

Screenings start after dark, but do get there early to soak up the ambiance and indulge in some street food. Audiences are advised to bring along their own seating – unless you want to splash out on a VIP deckchair upgrade – and perhaps some warm clothing or an umbrella just in case.
