Manchester Collective: The Edge of Fantasy at The Stoller Hall, Manchester 26 January 2018 Tickets from £18 — Book now

Still in its relative infancy, Manchester Collective continues its adventurous programming at what has now become its home venue, The Stoller Hall.

The Edge of Fantasy gathers four of the city’s most recognisable and celebrated chamber musicians for a concert of high intensity and emotion.

Rakhi Singh, Caroline Pether (both violin), Alex Mitchell (viola) and Nick Trygstad (cello) combine to perform Purcell’s Fantasia Upon One Note, the second movement of Beethoven’s String Quartet Op. 59, Janáček’s 1923-penned String Quartet No. 1 (‘Kreutzer Sonata’) and Górecki’s String Quartet No. 2, Op. 16 (‘Quasi una Fantasia’) – which incorporates ‘Beethovian’ chords, as the Polish composer himself put it.

With the performing quartet friends on and off the stage, expect fireworks.
