Humanising – An Exhibition of Artwork, Stories and Photography at Left Bank Leeds

Humanising at Left Bank Leeds is an exhibition that explores the stories of refugees and asylum seekers, and provides a space for sharing vulnerabilities and experiences through creativity. Rather than portraying them as victims, it attempts to humanise them and paint their stories through positive emotions such as joy, love, passion, pleasure and happiness.
The exhibition is funded by Near Neighbours and poses as a direct reaction to the rise in racist and homophobic tendencies that followed the Brexit vote. It aims to be the counterpart to the negative stereotyping often showcased in the media on the topic of newly arriving migrants and asylum seekers. Humanising reminds everyone that we are all Human and have more in common than that which divides us.
