Say hello to the latest innovation in casual dining: it’s dinner and a movie, but not as you know it.

It’s Friday night and you’re watching Pulp Fiction. But instead of marveling over its nonlinear narrative and pop culture references, you’re thinking of nothing else but that five-dollar shake with a cherry on top. The same thing happens in Matilda, you don’t care when Bruce Bogtrotter rises to victory against all odds – all you can think of is, where do I find myself an 8-inch chocolate cake?

We don’t know about you, but we’re already salivating with anticipation…

Well, rejoice people of Manchester, your film-food dreams are about to come true. Swanky up-market steak restaurant Gaucho is bringing a series of cult classics to its St Mary’s Street restaurant and screening them with a foodie twist – if it’s on the screen, it’s on your plate or in your glass.

Past events have included, yes, you guessed it, Pulp Fiction – including those iconic shakes, burgers and pancakes – and a Christmas screening of Elf, including that infamous breakfast of syrup spaghetti and the sugar crash that is sure to follow.

The next screening on May 8th will be Jon Favreau’s Chef; the story of a lacklustre chef who quits his job at a high-end LA restaurant for a life cooking on the road in a food truck. If you’ve seen the film you’ll know it’s a foodie delight and you can expect anything from spicy chorizo hotdogs, pasta, tequila – even wedding cake (although not the rather delicious steak pictured above on that particular night). We don’t know about you, but we’re already salivating with anticipation…

All screenings cost £55 per person, and that includes all of your food and accompanying beverages, whatever they may be.
